Hey Everyone,

This is the first of two shows that the Hip is putting on in June. I will coordinate a bar to meetup at before the concert once we get close to the date of the show.

Follow the link below and click on the June 13 show to buy tickets. If anyone can't find tickets email me. I'll help you locate some off of Craigslist.

If there is enough demand, I'll add a second meetup for the 14th as well. (Can't get too much Hip...)

Cheers,

Stew

Hi Everyone,

The Dears - One of the most talented bands from Montreal is coming to the Independent on May 24th. This is a Sunday night show.

Link to the band's site: http://www.thedears.org/tour/2009/05/24-independent-san-francisco-ca-united-states.php (Link to buy tickets on this page)

Tickets are only $15.00. I will organize at least drinks before the concert. If there's enough interest we can also find a place to eat.

I've seen The Dears in concert before and they are Fantastic! I hope you can join us at the show.

Hi Everyone,

In celebration of May 24, we are going to have pre drinks and food at the great Poleng Lounge at 4pm. It is less than half a mile from where The Dears are performing at the Independent on the same night. Everyone is of course invited to join us for the concert at 7pm. For those who would rather just come by and have a drink and a bit to eat, it would be a lot of fun to see you. (Remember that you don't have to get up on the 25th - its Memorial Day...)

Feel free to shoot me an email with any questions.

Hi Gang,

Maifest, a favorite springtime Bavarian Festival in a beautiful outdoor setting in the Oakland Hills with German food and beer, music and dancing at Nature Friends Tourist Club (Oakland Branch). There will be live traditional Bavarian music and dancing (i.e., lots of Polka, Waltz, Schottische and the occasional Swing, Tango and Hambo)

This event is organized by the Tourist Club of Oakland. It is supposed to be a great time. It will be a really good opportunity for us to get together and join others in celebrating all that is German (including German beer and polka).

Go to the page here and RSVP for the event. Please rsvp on meetup as well, so we can organize getting to and from the event.

Hi Everyone,

My apologies for the delay in organizing an event. I do have a good one now though!

Callofthesea.org is a non-profit sailing organization that takes groups out on the bay for educational and fun sailing outings. We will cruise around the bay, learn the basics of sailing and become educated about the marine and wildlife.

I have not been out with them before, but they come highly recommended. I believe that they are very professional and have great attitudes. More info on them can be found here:
http://www.callofthesea.org/about-us.php

To go out this Sunday, we need to have at least 20 people. Please RSVP today if you can. I will send information tomorrow on how to pay. The cost is $35 per person. If we can't get 20 people, I will have to reschedule for another day.

We will be leaving the Bay Model Pier in Sausalito at 9am Sharp on Sunday morning. We will arrive back at the dock at 12pm. I will be holding a Canadian flag so you can find me.

Let me know if you have any questions. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Cheers,

Stew

Hello All,

This is the Second of 2 surfing meetup's we are going to do. I run a surfing club called the Coastside Surfers and we are always trying to get more Canadians in the water. There are at least 5 Canadians in the Coastsiders so we want to expose more canadians to the pacific and the joy of surfing.

After having an awesome time at linda mar last weekend, I want to try some place else to maybe make it a bit easier on the new people that didn't show up last time :)

Rent your gear in Pacifica at Sonlife or the log shop, then head on down HWY 1 to Half Moon Bay.
If your car can not handle a rental board, rent your suit and booties and I can make a run to either the cowboy surf shop or the HMB boardshop to pick up boards in my Truck.

If you have trouble finding me or rentals please give me a call at 650-745-5302

*********************VERY IMPORTANT******
YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM!!!!
Dog paddling and treading water is fine, you do not need to be Michael Phelps
If you loose your board you need to know how to get back in.
Most of the water you will be in is only 4-5ft deep but the waves can make
that 4ft into 17ft very quick.
*******************************************

If you do not have your own wetsuit, booties, and Board you can rent them from one of the 3 surf shops in Pacifica.

They are:
Nor Cal
http://www.yelp.com/biz/nor-cal-surf-shop-pacifica
(does not rent booties, but closest to beach)

The Log Shop
http://www.yelp.com/biz/log-shop-pacifica
(good shop, furthest from beach)

SonLife
http://www.yelp.com/biz/sonlight-surfshop-pacifica
(very good shop, rents ripcurl suits and expoy boards)

Wetsuit Rental is about $10-20 depending on the shop.
Boards range from $20-35 depending on the shop and the size and quality of board.
Booties which I believe are a must

If it is your first time you will want a 9' or longer board. Longer is better for learning.
I surf a 9'4" board so bigger can be better.

If you have any questions or would like to try surfing sooner, email me at luke@lukek.ca

Hey Everyone!

I was feeling badly yesterday thinking I should have arranged a meet-up for all of us to watch the Snowbirds over the Bay this weekend. What an amazing show! Then tonight I suddenly remembered that the "dinner special" at Perry's on Mondays is a traditional turkey dinner & bottles of wine are 1/2 price... :)

So, I know its completely last minute, but my roommate & I and a few friends are going to head there tomorrow night for dinner -- and I was thinking that some of you who are local might like to join us.

The more the merrier!

Hope to see some of you tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

April :)
